Iron Courting Candle Holder
Legend tells that in Early American homes, courting candles were used to gently measure a young suitor’s visit. When the candle burned down to the rim of the holder, it was time for the gentleman to return home. If a father began the evening with the candle set high, it was considered a favorable sign — more time allowed before the flame reached the rim.
This solid iron reproduction reflects that early design. Crafted with a spiraled center shaft, the candle height is adjusted by turning the cradle up or down. A strong carry handle and wide, sturdy base make it both practical and substantial, with space to collect melted wax below.
An authentic-feeling accent for tabletops, mantels, or hearthside displays, it brings warmth and quiet history into the home.
