Welcoming Spring With Seed Starting
I am welcoming spring by planting a tiny indoor herb garden. This early spring weather has me wanting to get my hands in the dirt.

The warm sunshine has me wanting to plant all the things! Even though I know we will probably have at least one more frost before spring is here to stay. To satisfy my urge to plant something new, I decided to plant some herbs to keep indoors, for now at least.

Planting the Herbs
I kept things very simple.
First, I filled each small terra cotta pot with fresh potting soil. There’s something satisfying about scooping the soil, pressing it down gently, and preparing a place for something new to grow.
Next, I planted a few herb seeds in each pot. I chose herbs that I know I will like using in the kitchen: basil, oregano, thyme, parsley, cilantro, and rosemary . They’re simple, useful, and perfect for a sunny windowsill.
After planting the seeds in the cute little terracotta pots I carried them in their small wooden caddy and set them beneath the window where they’ll get plenty of light throughout the day.
A gentle watering finished the job.
Now comes the waiting, which might be the hardest part of gardening.

A Small Way to Welcome Spring
Even though these seeds are not even close to sprouting, they already feel like a small step toward the garden season ahead.
Until the danger of frost has passed, this little indoor garden will, hopefully, bring a bit of green to the kitchen and remind me that spring is on its way.
Sometimes it doesn’t take much.
Just a few pots, a handful of seeds, and a sunny window.
The Herb Garden Set
The little terra cotta pots and wooden caddy I used for this project are available in my shop as a set.
I love pieces like this that serve a simple purpose and can be used in different ways throughout the year. The caddy works beautifully for small herbs on a windowsill, but it could just as easily hold tiny seedlings, garden clippings, or even small seasonal arrangements.
If you’ve been feeling the pull of spring like I have, planting a few herbs indoors is a simple way to welcome the season while we wait for warmer days to fully arrive.

A few small terra cotta pots, a bit of fresh soil, and a handful of herb seeds.
There’s something about planting even the smallest thing that brings a sense of hope.
These little pots on the windowsill will do just that!
Faith can move mountains
"He replied, 'Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'" Matthew 17:20
Lots of love,
