The Pumpkins Have Arrived!
“Simple living, seasonal beauty, and a return to timeless home traditions.”

Hello and happy fall!
I can’t tell you how happy I am to be blogging again. Some of you may remember my old blog from several years ago — before it was unfortunately hacked beyond recovery. I tried many times to regain access, but it just never worked out. So here I am, starting fresh with a new blog — and it feels so good to be back!

This weekend, fall made its grand entrance around here with my first big flower and pumpkin haul. There was just enough room left in the car for me to drive home, haha! I loaded up all the red, orange, and white chrysanthemums I could find, then tucked in as many pumpkins of every shape, size, and color as possible.

Without a specific plan, I started by placing the flowers symmetrically between the porch posts. Then came the pumpkins — not so exact this time, since I wanted them to look a little more natural and gathered over time. Once those were in place, I filled the empty spots with small pots of mums and lavender. I do wish I had mowed the lawn first — it’s giving a bit of a chia-pet look — but overall I’m so happy with how it turned out. Sophie agrees, which makes it official.

The two large containers that bookend the porch are planted with deep purple mums and a beautiful flowing grass. Pumpkins of all colors peek out between the flowers, and I swapped the summer moss roses for stacked pumpkins in the urns between the porch rockers. Everything looks especially beautiful in the evening glow of golden hour — the perfect time of day for porch sitting.

This cozy fall day also called for some of my favorite fall comfort food — green chile chicken enchiladas (you can find the recipe on the blog soon!).”

If you’d like to see the full porch come together — from the pumpkin haul to the golden-hour glow — I filmed the whole process for my YouTube channel. You can watch it here:

Somewhere between hauling pumpkins and fluffing flowers, I realized how much I’ve missed sharing small moments, such as this, on my blog. Being able to share my home and garden with you is what has inspired me to start Our Prairie Farmhouse Goods — my new online store filled with timeless wares for simple, cozy living. It’s been such a joy curating pieces I truly love for my home, and I’m excited to share them with you, little by little, right here on the blog.

Here’s to fresh starts, cooler days, and porches full of pumpkins.
Thanks for visiting the farmhouse today — see you next time for more simple living and seasonal inspiration.
